The Women Self Help Group (WSHG) movement is a successful one. This model helps the people to develop themselves. Considering the conditions of the rural women in the rural areas, CHANARD has adopted the WSHG model and organized WSHGs. It has formulated its own strategies to develop the leadership, managerial and operational qualities in them through perspective and capacity building trainings and by encouraging them to share their experience among themselves. CHANARD has also conducted trainings, in A&R, Skill Development, Leadership Development, Entrepreneurship Development and Vocational Activities to speed up women development in the rural areas. The Women Development Corporation of Tamil Nadu extended its guidance and support and has approved to carryout the Women Development activities in Theni District from 2003 and in Dindigul District from 2006.

Amutham Self Help Group’s Federation
The WSHGs promoted by CHANARD felt the need for a separate roof for their guidance, support and development. CHANARD facilitated to form one separate federation for WSHGs named as “Amudham WSHG’S Federation” (registered under TN Societies Registration Act 1975) and is now successfully functioning.
