Centre for Human and Natural Resources Development (CHANARD) is a Voluntary Organisation started in 1994 and registered in 1996. CHANARD works for the upliftment of the poor and the under privileged in the backward rural areas to come out of poverty and lead a better life.

It is registered under Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act 27 of 1975, bearing the registration number 101/96, dated 23.10.1996. It is also registered under FCRA No. 075890303 dated 27.03.2002. The PAN number is AAAAC 257E. CHANARD is also registered under U/s12AA of the I.T. ACT 1961.

This enables the donors to claim exemption from income tax under 80G(5)(vi). CHANARD currently operates in the Dindigul and Theni Districts of Tamil Nadu, covering a total rural population of 6,75,000.

The organsization also strives for the empowerment of women by forming Self-Help Groups for Women. Presently, there are, 1062 Women Self Help Groups (WSHG), consisting of 15930 members, spanning 65 villages and for the betterment of the youth who are the moulders of the future of the nation. There are 52 Youth Self Help Groups (YSHG), consisting of 832 members across 8 villages.
